The 6500 is Simonton's premier collection, marketed as a wood-look vinyl window. Its glass unit is 7/8 inch thick, with double-strength ProSolar Low-E glass, argon and Simonton's Supercept spacer. Options include ProSolar Shade, triple-pane, obscure, bronze or gray tint, and Sound & Security laminated glass. Simonton sells it as 6500 models (double-hung, slider, casement, awning, bay and others) and 6550 models (casement, awning and more), and the 6500 double-hung carries the Good Housekeeping Seal.
Finishes go further than most vinyl: woodgrain laminate interiors with a White, Tan or custom exterior, black laminate inside and out, white laminate inside with a Driftwood or Tan exterior, or bronze laminate outside. The frame and sash are fusion-welded and multi-chambered, and the 6550 casement and awning use a nesting handle with a multi-point lock.
Supply needs a straight answer. Several Simonton product pages list 6500 and 6550 styles as sold only at The Home Depot, and offerings vary by region. Both are in Simonton's 6500 collection. Simonton sells 6500 models in double-hung, slider, casement, awning, bay and other styles, and 6550 models in casement, awning and more. The 6550 casement and awning use a nesting handle with a multi-point lock.

A 7/8-inch unit with double-strength ProSolar Low-E glass, argon and the Supercept spacer is standard. For Minnesota, ask for the Northern-zone ENERGY STAR package and check the NFRC label for the U-factor.
Can Simonton 6500 windows be installed as inserts?
Yes. Simonton makes the 6500 custom sized for insert or full-frame replacement. We use an insert where the old frame and sill are sound and square, and full frame where they are rotted or out of square. The quote says which for each opening.
Can I get black Simonton 6500 windows?
Simonton offers black laminate inside and out on the 6500, and a bronze laminate exterior. Woodgrain interiors can pair with White, Tan or a custom exterior color. We write each opening's finish on the quote so the order matches through the house.
Who measures if I order Simonton 6500 windows myself?
