Replacing every window at once is a different job from replacing one. The windows are ordered together so the frame color, glass package and grille pattern match across the house. The install is scheduled so you live in the house the whole time, with each window taken out and closed up the same day. And the trim, inside and out, is finished to one standard instead of three.
It is also the time to fix the openings. When every window comes out, rot in sills, missing flashing and cold weight pockets are found and handled once. We go through the house at the measure and write each opening on the quote: style, size, insert or full frame, and what trim it gets. That list is what you compare against other quotes.

- A plan for each room: furniture pulled back and window coverings down the day we are in it
- Access to pets and alarms sorted for install days
- Your paint or stain color — Painting is quoted as a separate line — or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself.

How long it takes
Inserts: three to five windows a day, so a typical house is done in several working days. Full frame jobs with exterior trim take longer, roughly one to three windows a day.

Is it better to replace all windows at once?
If most of them are failing, yes. One order means matching colors and glass, one set of install days, and a lower per-window cost. If only a few are bad, replacing those first and the rest later is fine, as long as the brand and color are written down so they match.
Can we stay in the house during whole house window replacement?
Yes. Windows are replaced room by room, and each opening is closed up the same day it is opened. You move furniture back from the rooms we are in that day, and we clean up at the end of each day.
How long does it take to replace every window in a house?
Insert installs run three to five windows a day, so most houses take several working days. Full frame installs with exterior trim run one to three a day. The schedule is written on the quote.
Can windows be replaced in winter in Minnesota?
Yes. Each window is out for a short time, and the room can be closed off while the opening is open. The main winter limits are sealants and exterior finishes, which have temperature limits; we plan around them.
Should every window in the house be the same style?
Not necessarily. Frame color and glass should match across the house. Style can change by room: casements where you want air, picture windows for the view, sliders where a sash cannot swing out.
What should a whole house window quote include?
Every opening listed by room, with style, size, install method (insert or full frame), glass package, interior and exterior trim, and haul-away. If a quote gives one number for the house with no list, you cannot compare it. Ours lists each window.
