Andersen A-Series Whole House Replacement — Full Frame, Every Window
A house where the windows are part of the design: you want Andersen's architectural line in every opening and one contractor who measures, orders and sets all of it.

Andersen A-Series whole house replacement is a full-frame job: every opening opened to the rough frame, flashed and set with a new unit. JMB Builders measures each window in person, orders the A-Series through ABC Supply's Minnesota branches, and installs room by room across the Twin Cities. Priced per window on a line-item quote. - Priced per window, each opening on the quote
- Full-frame install at every opening
- Optional triple-pane glass on this line

The A-Series is Andersen's architectural line: a wood interior with a fiberglass and Fibrex composite exterior, 11 exterior colors that can be mixed across sash, frame and trim, and six interior woods (pine, maple, oak, cherry, mahogany and vertical-grain Douglas fir). Triple-pane glass is a normal option on A-Series windows and doors, which is why it comes up on Minnesota houses where the owner wants the lowest U-factors Andersen offers below its custom E-Series.
Andersen offers the A-Series as new-construction and full-frame replacement units, so a whole-house job is full frame at every opening. The old window comes out to the rough opening. We check the framing, set a sloped sill pan, tape the fin to the housewrap, foam the gap and seal it, then trim inside and out. When siding has to come off around an opening, the quote says so for that opening. If an opening changes size, the framing is quoted on that line and we pull the permit when one is needed.
With this many choices, the decisions take longer than the measure. We go through them room by room at the in-home estimate and write each one on the quote, because a made-to-order window cannot be re-picked after it is built.

What you supply

- Glass for each side of the house: dual-pane Low-E4 options or triple-pane

- Sign-off on the written order before it goes in
- Access to each room on its scheduled day
What JMB supplies
- In-person measure of every opening and a check of the framing around it
- Line-item quote by opening, so the project can be compared or phased
- One A-Series order through ABC Supply for the whole house
- Drop cloths, furniture covers and dust control at each opening
- Full-frame removal, sill pan, flashing tape, foam and sealant
- Siding cut back and refit, or new exterior trim, where the opening needs it
- Interior jamb extensions and casing to your trim profile
- Staining or painting unfinished wood as its own line, or you finish it
How it is priced: per window
Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:
- Number of openings and their styles and sizes
- Interior wood species and whether it comes factory finished or unfinished
- Triple-pane versus dual-pane glass
- Mixed exterior colors and custom grille profiles
- Siding, stucco or brick around each opening
- Openings that change size, with framing and a permit
- Second-story and large units that need staging and extra hands
A photo of each window inside and out, labeled by room, gets a first range. The in-home measure is where the A-Series choices are made and the quote is firmed up.
How long it takes
Lead time depends on the brand and options and is written on the quote. Full-frame installs run roughly one to three windows a day depending on size, floor and siding.

Situations and options
Factory-finished interiors
Andersen offers factory stains and paints on pine, maple and oak. The trim we add is then finished to match as a separate line, or left for you.
Unfinished wood interiors
Cherry, mahogany and Douglas fir come unfinished. They are stained or painted after install, either by us as its own line or by your finisher.
Triple-pane on the cold sides
Some owners put triple-pane on the north and west walls and dual-pane with Low-E4 and HeatLock on the rest. Each opening's glass is written on the quote.
Windows with A-Series patio doors
Andersen makes hinged and gliding A-Series patio doors in matching colors and woods. On the same order they match the windows exactly.
Andersen A-Series Whole House Replacement — Full Frame, Every Window: questions, answered
Can Andersen A-Series windows go in as inserts?
Andersen lists the A-Series in new-construction and full-frame replacement versions, so we plan every opening as full frame. That means the old window comes out to the rough opening and the new unit is flashed to the wall. It is more work per opening than an insert, and the quote prices it that way.
Where do you get Andersen A-Series windows in Minnesota?
We order them through ABC Supply, whose Minnesota branches list the A-Series on Andersen's dealer locator. We are an independent installer, not an Andersen dealer. Product specs and warranty terms come from Andersen's own documents, not from us.
Is triple-pane glass worth it on Andersen A-Series windows in Minnesota?
It is the A-Series package with the lowest U-factors, and the A-Series offers it on windows and doors. Whether it pays back depends on the house, the exposure and how long you stay. We can price triple-pane on every opening or only on the cold sides, line by line.
Who stains the wood interiors on A-Series windows?
Pine, maple and oak can come factory finished from Andersen. Unfinished interiors are stained or painted after install. Painting and staining are quoted as a separate line, or you can have your own finisher do it.
How do you keep a high-end house clean during a whole-house window job?
Floors are covered from the door to the window, furniture near the opening is covered, and we cut and foam with dust in mind. Each room is cleaned at the end of the day, and no opening is left open overnight.
Do you pull a permit for Andersen A-Series window replacement?
We pull permits when the work needs one, for example when an opening is enlarged or framing changes. Rules vary by city, so we check with the city for your address before the job is scheduled.
