The front door and the slider are both due, and doing them separately means two colors that almost match and two hardware finishes that do not.

An entry and patio door package is the front door and the patio door replaced together on one order, so the exterior color, the hardware finish, the glass look and the interior finish are chosen once and match across both. JMB Builders prices it per door, orders both from lines that share colors and hardware, and installs them in one or two days across the Twin Cities metro. Quote from photos, reply within one business day.
- Priced per door, both doors on one order
- One exterior color and hardware finish across both
- One lead time, one install visit

Most houses have two doors a visitor sees: the front door and the patio door off the deck or the walkout. They are different products — a hinged entry slab in a frame, a sliding or French glass unit — and they are often bought from different makers at different times. That is how a house ends up with a bronze front door and a black slider, a brass handleset and a nickel patio handle, and two whites that are not the same white.
Ordering them together solves it. Most manufacturers make entry doors and patio doors in the same exterior color palette and offer hardware in matching finishes across both, and where they do not, the two lines can be chosen to share a color. The glass can match too: the same frosted or clear look in the entry door lite and the patio door, or the same grille pattern. Inside, both get the same casing profile and the same paint or stain, so the dining room and the front hall read as one house.
This page is the two-door package: entry plus patio. If you are replacing every exterior door including the garage service door and the back door, see our replace all exterior doors page. We measure both openings, order from options such as ProVia, Therma-Tru, Pella and Andersen, and install both in one visit when the openings are sound. Painting of the casing is quoted as its own line.

How it is priced: per door
Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:
- Entry door material and glass: steel, smooth or woodgrain fiberglass, with or without a lite or sidelites
- Patio door type and size: two-panel slider, three-panel, or a hinged French pair
- Factory color on both vs white; dark colors point both doors to fiberglass
- Hardware grade and finish across both doors
- Rot at either sill once the old doors are out
- Siding or masonry at each opening and how the exterior is trimmed
- Painting or staining the casing at both doors, quoted as a separate line
Send photos of both doors inside and out and a close-up of each sill. The quote lists each door as its own line so you can see what the package costs and what each door costs alone.
How long it takes
Both doors in sound openings: one long day or two days on site. Both arrive together after the quote is approved; factory colors and French pairs take longer than stock white units.

Situations and options
Matched color, matched hardware
Both doors in one exterior color from the same maker's palette, with handlesets and patio hardware in one finish. The core of the package: the two doors a visitor sees look like they were chosen together, because they were.
Matched glass look
The entry door lite and the patio door share a glass style: both clear, both with the same grille pattern, or the same frosted or textured glass in the entry lite and a sidelite. Keeps the front and the back of the house in the same language.
Dark entry, matching dark slider
A black or bronze fiberglass entry door with a black or bronze fiberglass or clad slider. Dark colors on both doors are the most common package request and the one most likely to go wrong when ordered separately, because every maker's black is different.
Entry plus French patio pair
A hinged French patio door shares more with the entry door than a slider does: same hinge style, same handleset family, same panel profile. For a house that wants the front and back doors to look like a set.
Entry and Patio Door Package — Front Door and Slider on One Order: questions, answered
Can a front door and a patio door be the same color?
Yes, when they are ordered from a maker whose entry and patio lines share a color palette, or from two lines chosen to match. Ordered separately from different makers, two blacks or two bronzes are rarely the same and the difference shows from the driveway. We pick the lines together and show you both samples side by side before the order.
Does the hardware on an entry door match a patio door handle?
It can. Most makers offer entry handlesets and patio door handles in the same finish families — matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, satin nickel, brass — and some offer the same handle style across both. We order both doors' hardware in one finish on one order. When the lines differ, we choose finishes that read the same in daylight.
Is it cheaper to replace the front door and patio door together?
The doors cost what they cost, but the install is more efficient: one measure, one order, one delivery, one visit with the tools and the trailer already there. The second door on a visit costs less to install than the first. The quote lists each door separately so you can see the difference against doing them a year apart.
Can both doors be installed in one day?
Usually, when both openings are sound. An entry door is about half a day and a two-panel slider is most of a day, so the two together are one long day or a day and a half. Rot at either sill or a French pair adds time. The house is never open at both doors at once; each opening is closed and sealed before the next is started.
Should the inside of the doors match too?
The casing should. Both doors get the same casing profile and the same paint or stain so the front hall and the room with the patio door look like one house. The door interiors can differ — a painted entry slab and a white or wood slider interior — but the trim ties them together. Painting or staining is quoted as its own line.
What if I want the garage and back doors done too?
Then it is a whole-house exterior door job, which we also do; see our replace all exterior doors page. This page is the two-door package — front entry and patio door — for the house where those are the two that show and the others are fine. Either way the order is one order and the colors and hardware match across every door on it.
