Most entry doors that need replacing are not worn out on the face. They fail at the bottom: the sill was set without a pan, water got under it for years, and now the jamb feet, the threshold and the subfloor behind them are soft. A new slab hung in that frame does not fix anything. The whole unit has to come out so the opening can be dried out and rebuilt.
Full service means you do not shop for the door or guess at sizes. You tell us what you want — steel or fiberglass, glass or solid, color, hardware finish — and we measure the opening and order a prehung unit to fit it. The door comes with a jamb width that matches your wall and a swing that matches the room, so it goes in without shimming out a mistake.
Install day is the old door out, rot cut out and replaced, a sill pan down, flashing tape lapped at the sides and head, the new unit shimmed plumb and square, foamed and sealed, then brickmould outside and casing inside. Painting is quoted as a separate line — or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself. If you already bought a door, we install that too. - Matching an existing interior casing profile vs. a standard one
- Hardware: a basic lockset vs. a handle set, smart lock or multipoint lock

How long it takes
One entry door in a sound opening: about a day on site. Add time for rot repair. The door itself is ordered after you approve the quote; lead time depends on the door.

Situations and options
Steel entry door
An insulated steel prehung unit. Takes a dent if something hits it and needs paint to stay sealed, but it is a tough, simple door for a back entry or a front door that gets painted.
Fiberglass entry door
Holds up to sun and wet weather without denting, and comes smooth for paint or textured for stain. A common pick for a front door that faces south or west.
Door with glass
Half-lite, three-quarter or full-lite doors to bring light into a dark entry. Decorative or privacy glass is chosen when the door is ordered, since the lite is built into the slab.
Door you already bought

Do you supply the entry door or do I have to buy it?
We supply it. You choose the style, material, glass and color, we measure the opening and order a prehung unit that fits it, and the door is a line on the quote. If you would rather buy the door yourself, we install that too and price the job as labor only.
Should I replace just the door slab or the whole entry door unit?
If the frame is solid, square and dry, a slab can work. Most entry doors we see have rot at the bottom of the jamb or the sill, a threshold that no longer seals, or a frame out of square — and a new slab in that frame will leak and bind like the old one. Replacing the prehung unit lets us fix the opening and set the new door in a sill pan.
What if the subfloor under my front door is rotten?
We cut out the soft wood and replace it before the new door goes in. That can mean the rim or sill plate, the subfloor under the threshold and the bottom of the framing on each side. We show you photos when the old door is out and quote the repair from what we find; we do not set a new door on soft wood.
How long does it take to get a new front door?
The install is about a day for one door in a sound opening. The wait is the door order, which depends on the manufacturer, the glass and whether it comes painted or stained from the factory. We give you the expected date when the order is placed and schedule the install once the door is here.
Will my house be open to the weather during the replacement?
Only for the hours between pulling the old door and setting the new one. We do not take the old door out until the new one is on site, and the opening is closed up the same day. If hidden rot takes longer to fix, the opening is covered and secured before we leave.
Do you paint the new door and trim?
Painting is quoted as a separate line. A fiberglass or steel door can also come with a factory finish, so it only needs the new trim painted. Or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself.
