Thermo-Tech builds vinyl windows and patio doors in Sauk Rapids, up Highway 10 from Zimmerman, and sells them through lumberyards and contractors across the Upper Midwest. Its replacement line is Thermo-Fit, built to order for each opening. Thermo-Tech lists double-strength Low-E argon glass as standard, with LoE-366 and Energy Guard triple-pane packages as upgrades. For new openings or full tear-outs there is the Classic Series new construction window.
Built-to-order only helps if the order is right. Older Twin Cities houses rarely have two openings the same size, and a replacement window that is a little too big does not go in. So every opening gets measured in person, three widths and three heights, and checked for square and rot before the order is written. Each window then goes on the quote as its own line: room, style, size, glass and whether it is an insert or a full-frame unit.
On install days we work one room at a time. Floors get runners, furniture gets covered, the old window comes out and the new one goes in on a pan, foamed, sealed and trimmed before we move to the next room.

- Paint or stain color: painting is quoted as a separate line, or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself

- Style and size: double-hung, slider, casement, picture or a mulled unit

- Exterior trim or aluminum capping on each opening
- Rot repair at sills found once the old window is out
- Second-story and hard-to-reach openings

Where are Thermo-Tech windows made?
Thermo-Tech builds its vinyl windows and patio doors in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. It sells them through lumberyards and contractors in Minnesota and the surrounding states rather than in home centers. JMB Builders orders them through ABC Supply.
What is the difference between Thermo-Fit and the Classic Series?
Thermo-Fit is Thermo-Tech's replacement window, built to fit an existing opening. The Classic Series is its new construction window with a nailing fin, used when the old frame comes out down to the studs or a new opening is framed. A whole-house job can use both, decided opening by opening at the measure.
Should I get triple-pane Thermo-Tech windows in every room?
Not always. Thermo-Tech offers Energy Guard triple-pane as an upgrade, and many people put it on the north and west sides and in bedrooms and keep double-pane Low-E elsewhere. Every window is its own line on our quote, so you can see the difference opening by opening and decide.
Are you a Thermo-Tech dealer?
No. JMB Builders is an installer and a licensed Minnesota residential building contractor, BC809005. We order Thermo-Tech windows through ABC Supply, measure, install and trim them. The product paperwork and warranty come from Thermo-Tech.
How long does it take to get Thermo-Tech windows?
It depends on the order and the time of year, and we write the lead time on the quote once the order is confirmed. Every window is built to order, so nothing is ordered until each opening has been measured in person.
Do I have to move out while all the windows are replaced?
No. We work one room at a time with runners on the floor and the furniture covered. Each old window comes out and the new one is set, sealed and trimmed before we start the next, so no room is left open overnight.
