Replace All Exterior Doors With Therma-Tru — One Package

The front door is shot, and the back and side doors are no better. Do them all once, in one family of Therma-Tru doors, so the house matches and you deal with it one time.

To replace all exterior doors with Therma-Tru, JMB Builders measures every door opening, puts the front, back and side doors on one order through ABC Supply, and installs them across the Twin Cities metro and north to St. Cloud. Each door is set on a sill pan and locked the day it goes in. We are an installer, not a Therma-Tru dealer. Priced per door. Send photos for a reply within one business day, or book a free in-home estimate.

  • Priced per door, each on its own line
  • Front, back and side doors on one order
  • Each door locked the day it is set

Most houses have three or four exterior doors: the front, a back or deck door, a side door to the yard and the door from the garage into the house. Replaced one at a time over several years, they end up in different makes, colors and lock brands. Therma-Tru builds fiberglass and steel entry doors in several collections, so a whole house can be done in one family: Classic-Craft or Fiber-Classic for a stained front door, Smooth-Star or Pulse for painted doors, and Profiles or Traditions steel where a steel door makes more sense.

We do it as one package. Each opening is measured in person and checked for rot at the sill and the bottoms of the jambs. The quote lists every door as its own line: collection, style, glass, handing, jamb width, hardware and finish. Keying all the locks alike is decided on the order, not after. Then one order through ABC Supply; we confirm which Therma-Tru collections our branch can get before you choose.

Install is a door at a time. The old door comes out, the sill is repaired if it needs it, a pan goes down, and the new prehung unit is set, shimmed at every hinge, screwed to the framing, foamed, sealed and cased. It is locked before we leave that day.

Photos (optional)

Up to 3: one wide shot of the area, one close-up of the opening or trim, one of anything you're unsure about.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • A collection and style for each door, from what our branch can order
  • Finish: factory-finished, primed for paint, or stained
  • Hardware choice and whether the locks are keyed alike
  • Someone home or a plan for access on door days, since the house is open at one door while we work
  • Paint or stain color: painting is quoted as a separate line, or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself

What JMB supplies

  • In-person measure of every exterior door opening
  • A line-item quote, one line per door
  • All doors on one Therma-Tru order through ABC Supply
  • Removal and haul-away of the old doors, frames and thresholds
  • Sill pans, flashing, shims, long hinge screws, foam and sealant
  • Sill and jamb rot repair, quoted before it is done
  • Locksets and deadbolts installed and adjusted; interior and exterior trim finished
  • Floor protection at each door and photos of the finished doors in your job folder

How it is priced: per door

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Collection for each door: Classic-Craft, Fiber-Classic, Smooth-Star, Pulse or steel
  • Sidelites or a transom on the front door
  • Glass in each door, from solid panel to full lite
  • Factory finish vs. primed vs. stained on site
  • Rot at the sill or jambs, common on back and side doors
  • The garage-to-house door and the code rules it has to meet
  • Hardware and keyed-alike locks

Send a photo of each door inside and out and one of each sill. We confirm handing and jamb width at the measure.

How long it takes

Most single doors: half a day to a day each; a front door with sidelites takes most of a day. Lead time depends on the collection and is written on the quote.

Situations and options

Stained front, painted back and side

A woodgrain fiberglass front door stained to suit the house, with smooth fiberglass doors painted at the back and side. One order, one hardware finish.

All painted, one color

Smooth fiberglass or steel on every door in one exterior color. Simplest to keep matched, and the easiest to repaint later.

Front door now, others in phase two

The front door and its sidelites first; the rest later, with the collection, finish and hardware written on the first quote so they match.

Replace All Exterior Doors With Therma-Tru — One Package: questions, answered

Should I replace all my exterior doors at the same time?

If most of them are failing, it saves a second set of measures, orders and install days, and the doors, finishes and hardware match. If only the front is bad, do it first and write the collection, finish and hardware on the quote so the others can match later.

Can every door in the house be Therma-Tru?

Usually, yes. Therma-Tru makes fiberglass and steel entry doors in several collections, so front, back, side and garage-to-house doors can all come from one maker. We confirm which collections our ABC Supply branch can order before you choose.

Can all the new door locks use one key?

Yes, if it is on the order. Locksets and deadbolts can be ordered keyed alike so one key works on every door. Deciding it before the order is much easier than rekeying afterward.

Is the house left open while the doors are replaced?

Only one door at a time, during the day. Each door is set, sealed and locked before we leave, so the house is secure every night.

Are you a Therma-Tru dealer?

No. JMB Builders is an installer and a licensed Minnesota residential building contractor, BC809005. We order through ABC Supply and install. Therma-Tru's specs and warranty paperwork come with the doors.

What do I need to decide before the doors are ordered?

For each door: the collection and style, glass, handing, finish and hardware, and whether the locks are keyed alike. We go through those at the free in-home estimate. Once the quote is signed, the order is placed and the sizes are locked.
