Therma-Tru Classic-Craft entry door replacement is for the one front entry you want to look like custom wood: an AccuGrain fiberglass door, often with sidelites or a transom. JMB Builders measures the whole opening in person, orders the Classic-Craft unit, removes the old door and frame, and installs the new system across the Twin Cities metro and north to St. Cloud. Priced per door. Send photos for a reply within one business day, or book a free in-home estimate.

  • Priced per door unit, sidelites included
  • AccuGrain woodgrain or smooth Canvas skin
  • Whole opening measured in person
New tan double casement beside the front entry, brick column and brown lap siding

Classic-Craft is the top of the Therma-Tru line. Its skins use Therma-Tru's AccuGrain texture to copy hardwood grain more closely than standard fiberglass, in American Style, Mahogany, Oak and Rustic collections, plus the smooth Canvas collection for paint. Ball-bearing hinges and precision-fit weatherstripping come with the door, and locksets are chosen separately.

Therma-Tru sells it as a complete system: slab, frame, sill, weatherstrip and glass made to work together, with sidelites, transoms and arch-top designs available. Glass comes in clear Low-E and in privacy and textured patterns such as Satin Etch, Chord, Rainglass and Granite, most of them triple-pane. A factory PrismaGuard stain or paint finish is an option.

A front door with sidelites is measured as one unit, so we measure the full rough opening and the jamb depth in person before anything is ordered. Therma-Tru is on ABC Supply's entry door list; we confirm the Classic-Craft line with our ABC branch before the quote is final. The old unit stays in until the new one is here, and the entry is closed and locked the day it goes in.

Three photos and a sentence is enough: a reply within one business day, or ask for a free in-home estimate. Or text the photos to 763-204-2099.

Photos (optional)

Up to 3: one wide shot of the area, one close-up of the opening or trim, one of anything you're unsure about.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • Collection and stain, or the Canvas skin and a paint color
  • Door style, and whether you want sidelites, a transom or an arch top
  • Glass pattern for the door and sidelites
  • Lockset or handle set and finish, since Classic-Craft locksets are sold separately
  • Photos of the entry inside and out and a close-up of the sill

What JMB supplies

  • In-person measure of the whole opening, jamb depth and swing
  • The Classic-Craft door system ordered to that opening
  • A quote with the door unit, the install and any rot repair on separate lines
  • Removal and haul-away of the old door, sidelites, frame and threshold
  • Sill pan, flashing tape, shims, low-expansion foam, backer rod and sealant
  • Sill and strike adjusted so the weatherstrip compresses all the way around
  • Exterior trim and interior casing; staining or painting on site quoted as its own line
  • Floor protection at the entry and photos of the finished door in your job folder

How it is priced: per door

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Door alone vs. door with one or two sidelites or a transom
  • Woodgrain collection vs. smooth Canvas skin
  • Factory PrismaGuard finish vs. stained or painted on site
  • Glass pattern and how much of the door and sidelites is glass
  • Rot at the sill, jamb bottoms or subfloor
  • Brick, stone, stucco or siding at the opening and how it is trimmed

Send photos of the whole entry from both sides and the sill. Lead time depends on the brand and is written on the quote.

How long it takes

A single Classic-Craft door: about a day on site. A door with sidelites is a full day and sometimes more. The order is placed after you sign, and the old unit stays in until the new one is on site.

Situations and options

Door with two sidelites

The common front entry on Twin Cities two-story and split-level houses. Glass in the sidelites can be privacy glass so the entry is lit but not see-through.

Door with a transom or arch top

For an entry with glass above the door. We measure the full height so the new transom or arch lines up with the existing opening.

Single door, no glass

A solid Classic-Craft door in a woodgrain collection. Less glass means fewer cold spots on an entry that faces the wind.

Therma-Tru Classic-Craft Entry Door Replacement — One Front Entry: questions, answered

What is the difference between Therma-Tru Classic-Craft and Fiber-Classic?

Classic-Craft is the top Therma-Tru fiberglass line, with the AccuGrain texture that copies hardwood grain most closely and the largest glass and sidelite program. Fiber-Classic is Therma-Tru's original woodgrain line in Mahogany and Oak, at a lower price. Both use a polyurethane foam core and the same complete-system approach.

Can a Classic-Craft door with sidelites go in my existing opening?

Usually, if the new unit is ordered to the existing rough opening. That is why we measure the full opening and jamb depth in person before the order. If the old unit was an odd size, we tell you what has to change before you sign.

Does Classic-Craft come stained from the factory?

It can be ordered with a factory PrismaGuard stain or paint finish, or unfinished and finished on site. A factory finish arrives done and saves a return visit. On-site staining or painting is quoted as its own line, or you can finish it yourself.

What glass is good in a Classic-Craft door in Minnesota?

Order Low-E glass in every lite. Therma-Tru's privacy and textured patterns such as Satin Etch, Chord, Rainglass and Granite are mostly triple-pane, which helps on a cold entry. Less glass on a north or west entry means fewer cold spots.

Are you a Therma-Tru dealer?

No. JMB Builders is an installer and a licensed Minnesota residential building contractor, BC809005. We order through ABC Supply, which lists Therma-Tru among its entry door makers, and we confirm the Classic-Craft line with our ABC branch before the quote is final.

Can I replace just the front door now and the other doors later?

Yes. This page is about the one front entry. If you plan to do the back and side doors later, we write the finish and hardware on the quote so they can match. For all the doors at once, see our whole-house Therma-Tru package.
