A trim carpenter in East Bethel, MN finishes the base, casing and window returns that owner-built and owner-finished homes there often never got, and evens out trim that changes from room to room. JMB Builders does it in East Bethel ramblers, split-levels and walkouts. Baseboard is priced per linear foot and casing per opening, quoted from your photos or a free in-home estimate.

  • Base per linear foot, casing per opening
  • Unfinished rooms finished, mismatched trim evened out
  • Single rooms welcome

East Bethel is mostly 1970s to 2000s ramblers, split-levels and walkouts on acreage, and a lot of them were built or finished by the people who lived there. That is good work in most of the house, but trim is usually the last thing done and the first thing left. We walk into basements with drywall taped and painted and no baseboard, windows with the jamb exposed, closets with no casing, and a main floor where each room got whatever trim was on sale that year.

The job is to pick one base and one casing for the floor, or match the one that is in the best rooms, and carry it through. Where trim is missing we install it new. Where it is mismatched we pull the odd pieces and replace them so the floor reads as one house. Window returns get jamb extensions, a stool and apron, or a picture-frame casing, depending on what the rest of the house has.

Trim on its own is carpentry. If the basement finish itself was never permitted, that is a question for the City of East Bethel building department before the work goes further, and we check with them. East Bethel is about half an hour from our Zimmerman base and we have installed there this year, so a one-room trim job is worth the trip. Ham Lake and Oak Grove are on the same route.

Three photos and a sentence is enough: a reply within one business day, or ask for a free in-home estimate. Or text the photos to 763-204-2099.

Photos (optional)

Up to 3: one wide shot of the area, one close-up of the opening or trim, one of anything you're unsure about.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • A photo of each room from the doorway, and close-ups of the trim you want to keep or match
  • A count of windows and doors that need casing
  • Trim you already bought, with the footage, if you have it
  • Paint-grade or stain-grade, and the color
  • Painting or staining is quoted as a separate line, or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself

What JMB supplies

  • Base, shoe, casing, stool and apron in primed MDF, finger-jointed pine or stain-grade wood
  • Jamb extensions on windows with bare drywall or short jambs
  • Removal and haul-away of mismatched trim we replace
  • Coped inside corners, glued miters and base scribed to the floor
  • Closet door casing and stops where they were never put on
  • Finish nails, filler and paintable caulk at every joint
  • Photos of the finished rooms in your job folder

How it is priced: per linear foot

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Linear feet of base and the number of window and door openings
  • Bare openings that need jamb extensions before casing
  • New trim only vs. pulling and replacing mismatched pieces
  • Paint-grade vs. stain-grade
  • Out-of-level floors or out-of-square openings that need scribing and shimming
  • Matching an existing profile vs. choosing a new one

Tell us which rooms have no trim at all and which have trim you want replaced; it changes the work more than the footage.

How long it takes

One basement room with no trim: a day. A main floor evened out to one profile: two to three days. A whole house of missing and mismatched trim: about a week.

Trim Carpenter in East Bethel, MN: questions, answered

How much does a trim carpenter cost in East Bethel?

Baseboard is priced per linear foot and casing per opening. Bare windows that need jamb extensions, and mismatched trim we have to pull first, add to it. Send photos room by room and we reply within one business day, or book a free in-home estimate.

Can you finish trim the previous owner never put in?

Yes, it is a common call in East Bethel. We install base, casing and window returns in the rooms that have none and match them to the rooms that do. If nothing matches, we pick one profile and run it through the floor.

My trim is different in every room. Can you make it match?

Yes. We keep the profile you like best, or choose a new one, and replace the rest. Pulling old trim leaves nail holes and some drywall damage, which we patch before the new trim goes on.

Do my basement windows need jamb extensions?

If the window sits deep in the wall with drywall wrapped into the opening, it can stay that way or get a wood return. Jamb extensions bring the frame flush with the wall so casing can go around it. We look at the depth on each window and price it per opening.

Do you take small trim jobs in East Bethel?

Yes. East Bethel is about half an hour from our base in Zimmerman, so a single room, a few windows or a set of closet doors is worth the drive. Jobs in Ham Lake or Oak Grove the same week help the schedule.

Can I buy the trim and have you install it?

Yes. Tell us the footage and send a photo of the label so we can check the profile and the count before install day. If you would rather not, we put the trim on the quote.
