Finished interior window casing and trim work

Baseboard and casing are the trim you see in every single room — and the first place cheap work shows. Gaps at the miters, wavy lines over uneven floors, and caulk doing a carpenter's job are what you get from the low bid. JMB Builders installs baseboard, shoe molding, and window and door casing throughout the Twin Cities metro, scribed to real-world floors and walls so the lines read straight everywhere.

As a window and door contractor first, casing is home turf for us: jamb extensions, sills, aprons, and full trim-outs after window replacement — whether we installed your windows or another company left the job unfinished. We also match existing profiles in older homes where the original millwork is no longer stocked.

Baseboard & casing work we handle

One room after new flooring or a whole-home refresh — here's the scope we cover.

Baseboard & shoe molding

New baseboard in the profile and height that fits your home, scribed to floors that aren't perfectly level — because most aren't.

Window casing & jamb extensions

Casing, jamb extensions, sills, and aprons — including complete trim-outs after window replacement by us or anyone else.

Door casing

Clean, consistent casing on every door opening, with reveals that match throughout the house.

Whole-home trim swaps & matching

Replace dated trim across the entire house in one project — or match and extend existing millwork, including older-home profiles.

What affects the cost

Baseboard and casing are typically priced by linear foot and by opening. What determines your quote:

  • Linear footage of baseboard and the number of window and door openings
  • Profile size and complexity — taller, detailed profiles cost more than ranch base
  • Paint-grade vs. stain-grade material
  • Removal and disposal of existing trim
  • Floor and wall conditions that call for scribing, shimming, or profile matching

Baseboard & Casing questions, answered

How much does baseboard installation cost in the Twin Cities?

Baseboard is priced by linear foot and varies with the profile you choose, paint-grade vs. stain-grade material, and whether we're removing old trim. Whole-home projects price better per foot than single rooms. Estimates are free and itemized, so you'll see exactly where the number comes from.

I just got new flooring — can you replace my baseboard?

Yes, and that's the perfect time to do it. New flooring often leaves gaps or height mismatches at the old base. We'll install new baseboard or shoe molding scribed cleanly to the new floor, and you'll never see the transition.

Can you match the existing trim in my older home?

In most cases, yes. Many pre-1960s Twin Cities homes have profiles that are no longer stocked, but they can usually be matched with milled or built-up alternatives that blend seamlessly. Bring us a sample piece or we'll measure the profile on site.

My windows were installed but never trimmed out — can you finish them?

Absolutely. Un-trimmed or poorly trimmed windows are one of our most common calls. We'll handle jamb extensions, casing, sills, and aprons as a standalone project, whether we installed the windows or not.
