Ply Gem Window Installation, Labor Only — Order Checked, Then Set

You are buying Ply Gem windows and need someone to measure the openings, check the order and install them once they arrive.

Reply within one business day. Or call / text 763-204-2099.

Ply Gem window installation labor only: you buy the windows, from a lumberyard or The Home Depot, and JMB Builders installs them across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent installer, not a Ply Gem dealer. Ply Gem lines vary by ZIP code, so we help you measure and check the order against each opening, then set, flash, foam and trim every window. Priced per window.

  • Priced per window, labor only
  • Measuring and order check before you buy
  • Independent installer, not a dealer
Installer setting a new window into an exterior wall opening

Ply Gem is a window brand of Cornerstone Building Brands, sold in regional versions. Which series you can order depends on your ZIP code, so a series you read about online may not be offered for a Minnesota address. The Home Depot stocks the Classic Series single-hung and sliders in common sizes. Lumberyards order the Pro Series, the 1100 and 1500 vinyl, the East Premium Series with foam-filled frames, and the MIRA aluminum-clad wood series.

Measuring and ordering is where Ply Gem jobs go right or wrong. Stock Classic Series units are new-construction windows with a nailing fin, sized for a rough opening. Replacement configurations are measured to the old frame. Ordering a stock fin window for a house where the siding should stay, or an insert for a rotted frame, is the mistake we see most. We measure each opening, tell you which type and size to order, and check the order sheet before it is placed.

We are an independent installer and make no claims about the product beyond what Ply Gem publishes. On install day the old window comes out, the opening is panned and flashed, the unit is set plumb and square, foamed, sealed and trimmed.

Get a written quote for this job

Three photos and a sentence is enough: a reply within one business day, or ask for a free in-home estimate. Or text the photos to 763-204-2099.

Photos (optional)

Up to 3: one wide shot of the area, one close-up of the opening or trim, one of anything you're unsure about.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • The Ply Gem windows and the order sheet: series, size, insert or new construction, color and glass
  • Photos of each opening, ideally before you order
  • Exterior capping or trim preference
  • Interior trim preference and paint color if we finish the trim

What JMB supplies

  • Measurement of each opening and a check of your order before it is placed
  • Removal and haul-away of the old sashes, stops, or the whole window and frame
  • Sill pans, flashing tape, shims, screws, low-expansion foam and exterior sealant
  • Rot repair at the sill or the old frame when we find it, quoted before we continue
  • Exterior capping on an insert, or new trim and siding patched around a fin unit
  • Interior jamb extensions, casing, stool and apron, or drywall returns
  • Sash and lock adjustment so every window opens, locks and seals
  • Photos of every window in your job folder

How it is priced: per window

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Replacement configuration in the old frame vs. new construction with a nailing fin
  • Window size and style, and whether two people set it
  • Siding, stucco or brick around a fin unit
  • Interior trim: reuse, new casing and stool, or drywall returns
  • Rot at the sill or the old frame
  • Second-floor openings that need ladders or staging

Send the quote or order sheet from the store or lumberyard, plus a photo of each window inside and outside, before the order is placed.

How long it takes

Replacement units in the old frame: four to six a day. Nailing-fin units: two to four a day, depending on the siding and trim.

Situations and options

Classic Series from The Home Depot

Stocked single-hung and sliding windows in common sizes with a nailing fin, plus special order. A good fit for full-frame jobs, rentals and garages when the sizes match.

Pro Series

Ply Gem's builder vinyl in new-construction and replacement configurations, sold as the East Pro Series in this region. We confirm the current offering for your address.

1500 and East Premium Series

The 1500 can be ordered triple pane and ENERGY STAR for any zone; the East Premium has foam-filled frames. Both are lumberyard orders, measured to the opening.

MIRA clad wood

Aluminum-clad outside, wood inside. Installed like any clad window, with the interior wood finished so it stays stable through the seasons.

Ply Gem Window Installation, Labor Only — Order Checked, Then Set: questions, answered

Who installs Ply Gem windows I bought?

JMB Builders installs Ply Gem windows homeowners have already bought, labor only, across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent licensed Minnesota contractor, not a Ply Gem dealer. We check the order against each opening, remove the old window, pan and flash the opening, set and foam the unit and trim it. Priced per window, with a reply within one business day.

Can you install a Ply Gem Pro Series window?

Yes. The Pro Series comes in new-construction and replacement configurations, and in this region it is sold as the East Pro Series. We confirm which configuration fits each opening before you order, then install it like any vinyl window: sill pan, flashing, foam and trim.

Why can't I find the Ply Gem series I read about?

Ply Gem sells regional versions, and availability goes by ZIP code. The product finder on Ply Gem's site shows what can be ordered for a Minnesota address. We confirm the series and configuration with you before the order is placed.

Can you measure for Ply Gem windows before I order?

Yes, and it is the step we recommend most. We measure each opening, tell you whether it wants a replacement configuration or a nailing-fin unit, and give you the sizes to order. Then we check the order sheet before it is placed.

Will a stock Ply Gem window from Home Depot fit my opening?

Sometimes. Stock Classic Series units are sized for common rough openings and have a nailing fin, so they suit full-frame jobs where the opening matches. Older houses often have odd sizes, which means special order or reframing. Send photos and a measurement first.

What trim do you put around a new Ply Gem window?

A full-frame vinyl window sits at the outside of the wall, so the inside needs jamb extensions to bring it flush with the drywall, then casing, stool and apron or drywall returns. New trim goes in primed and caulked. Painting is quoted as a separate line — or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself.
