MI Windows Installation, Labor Only — V4500, V3000 and V2000

You got MI windows through a dealer at a good price, and the dealer does not install or cannot get to you soon.

Reply within one business day. Or call / text 763-204-2099.

MI windows installation labor only: you order the windows through an MI dealer and JMB Builders installs them across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent installer, not an MI dealer. Sunrise V4500 replacement windows, V3000 double-hungs like the 1650, or V2000 new-construction units: we check the order against each opening, set, flash, foam and trim each window. Priced per window.

  • Priced per window, labor only
  • V4500, V3000 and V2000 series
  • Independent installer, not a dealer
Installer setting a new window into an exterior wall opening

MI Windows and Doors is a vinyl window maker in Gratz, Pennsylvania, part of MITER Brands, and sells through MI dealers rather than home centers. Homeowners usually come to us with an order from a dealer or lumberyard and nobody to install it. The lineup has three series people bring us most: the Sunrise Series V4500 for replacement, the V3000 with the 1650 double-hung, and the V2000 for new construction.

The series tells us how the window goes in. The V4500 is built for replacement, as an insert in the old frame or a full-frame unit. Its double-hung has foam-filled frame chambers and both sashes tilt in. The V3000 1650 is MI's flagship replacement double-hung, with a fin version for new construction. The V2000 3500 single-hung is a new-construction window with a nailing fin, the common pick for additions, garages and rentals.

We are an independent installer and make no claims about the product beyond what MI publishes. The install is ours: the order checked before it is built, the old window out, the opening panned and flashed, the unit set plumb and square, foamed, sealed and trimmed.

Three photos and a sentence is enough: a reply within one business day, or ask for a free in-home estimate. Or text the photos to 763-204-2099.

Photos (optional)

Up to 3: one wide shot of the area, one close-up of the opening or trim, one of anything you're unsure about.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • The MI windows and the dealer's order sheet: series, model, size, insert or full-frame, color and glass
  • Photos of each opening, ideally before the order is placed
  • Exterior capping or trim preference
  • Interior trim preference and paint color if we finish the trim

What JMB supplies

  • A check of your order against each opening before it is built
  • Removal and haul-away of the old sashes, stops, or the whole window and frame
  • Sill pans, flashing tape, shims, screws, low-expansion foam and exterior sealant
  • Rot repair at the sill or the old frame when we find it, quoted before we continue
  • Exterior capping on an insert, or new trim and siding patched around a fin unit
  • Interior jamb extensions, casing, stool and apron, or drywall returns
  • Sash and lock adjustment so every window opens, locks and seals
  • Photos of every window in your job folder

How it is priced: per window

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Insert into the old frame vs. full-frame or nailing-fin unit
  • Window size and style: double-hung, slider, casement or awning
  • Exterior: capping an insert vs. patching siding around a fin
  • Interior trim: reuse, new casing and stool, or drywall returns
  • Rot at the sill or the old frame
  • Second-floor openings that need ladders or staging

Send the dealer's order sheet and a photo of each window inside and outside. We check sizes and the insert vs. full-frame choice before the order is built.

How long it takes

Inserts: four to six windows a day. Full-frame and fin units: two to four a day, depending on the siding and interior trim.

Situations and options

Sunrise Series V4500

MI's replacement window with foam-filled frames on the double-hung and narrow profiles. Installed as an insert in a sound frame or full-frame where the frame is rotted.

V3000 and the 1650 double-hung

MI's flagship double-hung for replacement, with sliders and casements in the same series. Triple pane is offered on many styles, which adds weight to plan for.

V2000 new construction

The 3500 single-hung with a nailing fin, for additions, garages, rentals and full-frame jobs where the opening is framed to fit.

Mixed orders

A dealer order with a slider, a picture window and a few double-hungs is common. We check each line on the sheet against its opening.

MI Windows Installation, Labor Only — V4500, V3000 and V2000: questions, answered

Who installs MI windows in the Twin Cities?

JMB Builders installs MI windows homeowners have already ordered, labor only, across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent licensed Minnesota contractor, not an MI dealer. We check the order, remove the old window, pan and flash the opening, set and foam the unit and trim it. Priced per window, with a reply within one business day.

How is an MI V4500 window installed?

As an insert, the old sashes and stops come out, the frame is checked and squared, the V4500 is set plumb, screwed through the jambs, foamed and capped outside. As a full-frame unit, the old window comes out to the framing, the opening gets a sill pan and flashing, and the inside gets jamb extensions and casing.

Where do I buy MI windows?

MI sells through MI dealers and lumberyards, not home centers. MI's dealer locator lists dealers near you. You buy from the dealer; we install.

Can you install an MI 1650 double-hung?

Yes. The 1650 is the V3000 Series replacement double-hung. It goes in as an insert in a sound frame, or full-frame with new flashing where the frame is rotted. We adjust each sash so it tilts, locks and seals.

Should I order MI inserts or full-frame windows?

If the old wood frame is square, dry and solid, an insert keeps the outside trim and is the faster install. If the frame is rotted or the window leaks, full-frame replaces everything to the framing. Send photos of each window to us before the dealer builds the order.

What trim do you put around a new MI window?

A full-frame vinyl window sits at the outside of the wall, so the inside needs jamb extensions to bring it flush with the drywall, then casing, stool and apron or drywall returns. New trim goes in primed and caulked. Painting is quoted as a separate line — or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself.
