Pella sliding door installation labor only: you buy the Pella patio door at Lowe's or a Pella showroom, and JMB Builders installs it across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent installer, not a Pella dealer. We remove the old door, repair the sill, set a sill pan and flashing, set the frame square without bowing the vinyl, adjust the panel or hinges and lock, and trim it. Priced per door, reply within one business day.
- Priced per door, labor only
- 250 Series, Lifestyle, Impervia and Encompass
- Independent installer, not a Pella dealer

Pella patio doors come in each of Pella's frame materials. The 250 Series and Encompass sliding doors are vinyl. Impervia sliding doors are Duracast fiberglass. The Lifestyle Series has wood sliding and hinged patio doors with an aluminum-clad exterior. Lowe's carries the 250 Series, Lifestyle and Impervia, and Pella showrooms and dealers carry the range. We are an independent installer. We do not sell Pella and we do not speak for Pella; we install the door to the instructions that come with it.
Vinyl sliders have one habit to respect: the frame moves with temperature and bows if it is screwed too hard. We shim at the points the sheet shows and set fasteners snug, not tight, so the frame stays straight and the panel glides. A hinged Lifestyle door is the opposite job: the wood frame has to be square in every direction so the panel meets the weatherstrip evenly and the lock throws without lifting.
Either way the water details are the same. The old door comes out, the sill is checked for rot, a sill pan goes down, flashing tape is lapped at the sides and head, and the frame goes onto a level, fully supported sill. Then foam, sealant, the screen adjusted and trim inside and out.

How it is priced: per door
Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:
- Vinyl or fiberglass slider vs. a hinged Lifestyle door, which takes more fitting
- Two-panel vs. a wider or multi-panel door
- Same-size swap vs. an opening resized for the new door
- Rot at the sill or rim once the old door is out
- Siding, stucco or brick around the opening
- Finishing a wood interior, quoted as a separate line
Send the Lowe's order or a photo of the door label, photos of the old door from both sides, and a tape across the opening.
How long it takes
One Pella sliding door in a same-size opening: most of a day. A hinged door or a resized opening: a day or more.

Pella Sliding Door Installation, Labor Only — Sliding and Hinged: questions, answered
Who installs Pella patio doors bought at Lowe's?
JMB Builders installs Pella sliding and hinged patio doors bought at Lowe's or a Pella showroom, labor only, across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent licensed Minnesota contractor, not a Pella dealer and not the store's install program. Priced per door, quoted from photos, with a reply within one business day.
How is a Pella 250 sliding door installed?
The old door comes out and the sill is checked for rot. A sill pan goes down and flashing tape is lapped at the sides and head. The vinyl frame is set on a level, supported sill, shimmed at the points the instruction sheet shows, and fastened snug so it does not bow. Then the panel, screen and lock are adjusted and the door is foamed, sealed and trimmed.
Do you install Pella hinged patio doors?
Yes, including the Lifestyle Series hinged doors. A hinged door takes more fitting than a slider: the frame has to be square in every direction so the panel seals evenly and the lock throws without lifting. We set it, adjust the hinges and strike, and trim it inside and out.
Do I have to use the Lowe's installer for a Pella sliding door?
No. The store's install program is optional and many homeowners hire their own carpenter. We cannot speak to Pella's or Lowe's paperwork, so read what came with the order. We install to the printed instructions and stand behind our own workmanship.
What should I measure before ordering a Pella sliding door?
The rough opening behind the trim, or the old frame's outside size if you are matching it, plus the wall depth from drywall to sheathing for the extension jambs, and which side the moving panel goes on. Send those with photos of the old door and we check the order before you commit.
Can you install a Pella patio door into a stucco or brick wall?
Yes. The outside finish changes how the old door comes out and how the new one is trimmed and sealed, not the setting itself. Stucco is cut back cleanly and patched or trimmed; brick usually gets a new brickmould and sealant joint. Send outside photos and we price it.
