Interior door installation in Coon Rapids, MN: JMB Builders replaces the flush slab doors and bypass closets common in 1960s–80s ramblers and split-levels with panel or solid-core doors, and hangs doors you already bought from a store for labor only. Each door is shimmed, margins kept even, and cased to the room. Priced per door. Send photos and we reply within one business day, or book a free in-home estimate.

  • Priced per door
  • Labor-only for doors you bought
  • Prehung or slab-only

Most Coon Rapids ramblers and split-levels from the 1960s through the 80s still have their original interior doors: flush hollow slabs, often with a wood veneer, and sliding bypass doors on the bedroom closets. Many have been painted a few times, the hinges are loose, and the latches no longer line up.

Switching to panel doors changes the look of the house more than people expect. In these houses we usually go with prehung units, because the old jambs are narrow and worn and the trim is often being replaced at the same time. Where the jambs are sound and the casing is staying, new slabs are fitted to the old jambs instead.

We also hang doors homeowners have already bought. If the doors are sitting in the garage, send a photo of the label and the openings and we check the size and handing before install day. We hang doors in Blaine and Anoka as well.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • The doors you bought, or the style you want and we put them on the quote
  • A photo of each opening, with the door labels if you have them
  • Knobs or levers, and hinges if the doors do not include them
  • Your paint color, or leave the doors primed and paint them yourself

What JMB supplies

  • A size and handing check from photos before install day
  • Prehung units shimmed plumb at the hinges and strike
  • Slab fitting on sound jambs: mortises, bore and planing
  • Bypass or bifold closet hardware installed and adjusted
  • Casing to match the rest of the house
  • Removal and haul-away of the old doors and jambs
  • Painting when you want it, quoted as its own line

How it is priced: per door

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Prehung replacement vs. a slab on an existing jamb
  • Hollow-core, solid-core or glass doors
  • Bypass or bifold closets vs. hinged doors
  • New casing vs. reusing the old trim
  • Doors you supply vs. doors we buy and bring
  • How many doors are done in the same visit

Send a photo of each door opening, the label or receipt for doors you already bought, and a count by type.

How long it takes

Prehung doors in a rambler: two to four a day. A whole-house swap: two to three days, longer if the trim is changing too.

Interior Door Installation in Coon Rapids, MN: questions, answered

Can you hang interior doors I bought at a store?

Yes. Send a photo of each opening and the door labels and we check size and handing before install day. We hang, shim, case and adjust them so they latch, priced per door for labor only.

Should I replace the flush doors in my Coon Rapids rambler with prehung or just slabs?

If the trim is changing or the old jambs are worn, prehung is cleaner. If the jambs are square and the casing is staying, slabs on the old jambs cost less per door. We look at your photos and recommend one.

Can bypass closet doors be swapped for something else?

Yes. New bypass doors on a new track, bifolds, or a hinged pair all work. A hinged pair may need small jamb or framing changes, which we check from photos.

How do I know which handing to buy for interior doors?

Stand on the side the door swings away from you. If the hinges are on the left it is a left-hand door; on the right, a right-hand door. Send photos before you buy and we confirm the handing and size for each opening.

Why do my old doors not latch anymore?

Loose hinge screws and a house that has settled shift the door so the latch misses the strike. Sometimes longer screws and a moved strike fix it. If the door or jamb is worn out, replacing it is the lasting fix.

Do you install interior doors in Blaine and Anoka too?

Yes. JMB Builders is based in Zimmerman and hangs interior doors in Coon Rapids, Blaine, Anoka, Andover, Brooklyn Park and across the north metro.
