Storm damaged window repair in Champlin, MN: after hail or high wind, JMB Builders photographs each damaged window, upstairs and down, lists it as glass, sash, screen or full unit, meets your adjuster when you want us there, and repairs what the approved scope covers. You file and manage your claim. It is priced window by window; send photos and we reply within one business day, or we can come for a free in-home estimate.
- Priced per window
- Upstairs, bay and bow windows included
- Adjuster met when you want us there

Most Champlin homes are late-1970s to 1990s two-stories and split-levels, and river-adjacent lots catch more wind than sheltered ones. That shapes storm damage here. On a two-story, half the windows are upstairs, where hail damage on the sill and the top of the sash is hard to see from the yard. Wind pushes rain at the joints of windows whose seals and weatherstrip were already near the end.
Bay and bow windows deserve their own look. They stick out from the wall, so they take hail on three sides and on the roof over the unit, and a hard strike can crack the head or seat board as well as the glass. When one is damaged, the seat, the head and the roof flashing above it are part of the write-up.
You are the one who files with your insurance company and talks with them. We photograph each window with a scale reference, list what was hit, walk it with your adjuster on request, and repair it after approval. JMB will not waive, rebate or pay your deductible; state law bars contractors from that. For coverage and reporting deadlines, check your policy and ask your agent. We have installed in Champlin four times this year, May through August 2026.

How it is priced: per window
Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:
- Glass, sash, screen or whole unit for each window
- First-floor vs. second-floor windows and ladder access
- Bay or bow units, including seat, head and roof over them
- Whether parts are still made for the window
- Exterior finish around whole-unit replacements
- How many windows the approved scope lists
Send a wide shot of each damaged side, including the upstairs, and close-ups of each hit window with a tape or coin for scale.
How long it takes

Storm Damaged Window Repair in Champlin, MN: questions, answered
How do I check upstairs windows for hail damage on my two-story?
From inside, open each window and look at the outside sill and the top of the bottom sash for dents and hairline cracks. Check the screens for dents and tears. We photograph the upstairs from a ladder so the adjuster sees the same thing you do.
Can a bay window be repaired after hail, or does it all have to come out?
It depends on what was hit. Cracked glass in a sound unit can be replaced in place. A split frame, a cracked head or seat, or water getting in at the roof above usually means rebuilding the unit. We list each part so your adjuster sees the whole window.
Do you handle the insurance claim for my storm damaged windows?
No. Filing and every conversation with the insurance company stay with you. We document the damage with photos and a line-item list, meet your adjuster when you want us there, and do the repair once it is approved.
Can JMB pay or waive my deductible?
No. A Minnesota contractor is not allowed by law to cover, waive or rebate any of your deductible, and JMB Builders does not try. Your deductible is your share of the repair cost.
My double-hungs were already sticking before the storm. Does that matter?
Yes. Wear from age is not storm damage, and we list it separately so the claim covers only what the storm did. If you want the older windows replaced at the same time, we quote that as its own job.
Do you repair storm damaged windows in Dayton and Maple Grove too?
Yes. We are based in Zimmerman and repair storm damaged windows in Champlin, Dayton, Maple Grove, Anoka and across the Twin Cities metro. The write-up and the repair work the same way in each city.
