Entry door replacement in Rogers, MN: a new prehung steel or fiberglass door, ordered in the swing, jamb depth and glass you pick, the old door and frame removed, any rot at the sill repaired, the new unit set in a sill pan with flashing, the lockset fitted and the trim finished. JMB Builders does the whole job. Priced per door, quoted from photos or at a free in-home estimate.

  • Priced per door, door included
  • Glass lites, sidelites or solid door
  • Sill pan and flashing on every door

The typical Rogers front door came with the house: a steel or fiberglass slab, sometimes with a sidelite, picked from a builder package in the late 1990s or 2000s. Two decades of Minnesota winters later the weatherstrip is flat, the bottom sweep is torn, steel skins have dents or rust at the bottom edge, and the factory finish has faded. Many owners also want what the builder skipped, which is glass that lets light into the entry.

That glass is the most common reason we hear for replacing a door here that still works. A new door can carry a full or half lite, decorative or privacy glass, or matching sidelites, all in an insulated, tempered unit. The rest of the job is what keeps it working: the opening checked for square, soft wood at the sill replaced, the unit set in a sill pan, and the weatherstrip and strike adjusted so it latches with light pressure.

Newer houses often have deeper walls, so the jamb depth is measured at the door before anything is ordered.

Three photos and a sentence is enough: a reply within one business day, or ask for a free in-home estimate. Or text the photos to 763-204-2099.

Photos (optional)

Up to 3: one wide shot of the area, one close-up of the opening or trim, one of anything you're unsure about.

How do you want your quote?

Free, no obligation. Every quote is written and itemized, so you can compare it line by line.

What you supply

  • The style, material, glass and color you want; we can bring options or send links
  • Lockset and deadbolt finish, or your own hardware
  • Photos of the door from both sides, including the sill and the bottom of the jamb
  • Door and casing paint color — painting is a separate quote line, or paint it yourself

  • Rot repair at the sill, jamb feet or subfloor, quoted from what we find
  • Sill pan, flashing tape, low-expansion foam, shims and sealant

How it is priced: per door

Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:

  • Steel vs. fiberglass, and smooth vs. wood-grain finish
  • Glass: solid, half lite, full lite, decorative or privacy
  • Sidelites or a transom, and whether the opening changes size
  • Rot at the sill and subfloor once the old door is out
  • Hardware: basic lockset, handle set, smart lock or multi-point lock
  • Painting the door and trim, quoted as a separate line

Send a photo of the whole door from outside, one from inside, and a close-up of the threshold.

How long it takes

One entry door in a sound opening: about a day. A door with sidelites, or rot at the sill, takes longer. The door is ordered after you approve the quote.

Situations and options

Same size, new glass

The most common Rogers request: same opening, new prehung door with a lite of glass where the old one was solid. No framing changes, and the trim goes back the same size.

Add or replace sidelites

A door with one or two sidelites is a bigger unit. If the opening is not already that wide, the framing and siding change around it, which we quote from the photos.

Door from the garage into the house

The service door between the garage and the house is often replaced at the same time. The code has its own rules for that door between garage and house, and we order one that meets them.

Front Entry Door Replacement in Rogers, MN: questions, answered

Can I add glass to my solid front door in Rogers without changing the opening?

Yes, by replacing the door with a same-size prehung unit that has a glass lite. Cutting glass into an existing steel or fiberglass slab is not a good repair. The new unit comes with tempered, insulated glass already sealed in, and the opening stays the size it is.

Is a steel or fiberglass entry door better for a Rogers home?

Both work in Minnesota. Steel is solid and economical but dents and can rust at the bottom edge if the paint is breached. Fiberglass resists dents, does not rust and can be stained to look like wood. We can quote both on the same opening.

Why does my front door let in cold air when it is closed?

Usually the weatherstrip is flattened, the bottom sweep is torn, or the door has settled so it no longer seals against the stop. A new weatherstrip helps for a while. If the frame is out of square or soft at the bottom, a new prehung door set in a sill pan is the fix that lasts.

Does replacing a front door need a permit in Rogers?

A same-size door replacement often does not, but rules vary by city and by job. When the opening gets bigger or framing changes, a permit is more likely. We check with the City of Rogers building department for your job and pull one if it is needed.

Will the new entry door fit my 2x6 wall?

Yes, when it is ordered with the right jamb depth. Many Rogers homes have 2x6 exterior walls, so the jamb has to be deeper than on a 2x4 wall, or a jamb extension is added. We measure the wall at the door before ordering.

Can you install a smart lock on the new door?

Yes. Most smart locks fit a standard deadbolt bore. Tell us the lock you want before the door is ordered so the bore and the strike match it, and we install it with the door.
