Entry door replacement in Ramsey, MN: JMB Builders measures the opening, orders a prehung steel or fiberglass door with a tight compression weatherstrip, removes the old door and frame, fixes rot at the sill, sets the new unit in a pan with flashing and trims it inside and out. Split-level, rambler and two-story entries alike. Priced per door; photos you send get a reply within one business day.
- Priced per door, door included
- Compression weatherstrip, set square
- Split-level entries with landings

Ramsey's large, open lots mean a front door takes weather from more than one direction. Entry door systems with tight compression seals are one of the common requests here: a door that closes against a full-perimeter weatherstrip, on a frame set square so the seal touches all the way around.
Many of the houses are 1970s to 2000s split-levels, ramblers and two-stories. A split-level entry usually opens onto a small landing between the half flights, and the door is often original or a first replacement. Those doors tend to fail at the bottom, where the threshold has worn and water has softened the jamb feet and the subfloor.
We measure the opening, order a prehung unit in the material, glass and swing you pick, and do not pull the old door until the new one is on site. The sill area is rebuilt where it is soft, the door goes in a pan with flashing lapped over it, and it is trimmed inside and out. Painting is quoted as a separate line — or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself.

Entry Door Replacement in Ramsey, MN with Compression Seals: questions, answered
Who replaces front doors in Ramsey, MN?
JMB Builders, a licensed Minnesota residential building contractor (BC809005) based in Zimmerman. Ramsey is in our north metro service area, and we installed there this past winter. Photos are the fastest start, with a reply within one business day; a free in-home estimate works too.
What is a compression seal on an entry door?
It is a soft weatherstrip in the frame that the door squeezes when it closes, so it seals all the way around. It only works when the frame is square and the door closes evenly. That is why we replace the whole prehung unit when the old frame has moved.
Can you replace the front door on a split-level?
Yes. A split-level door usually opens onto a small landing, so we check the swing clears the landing and the stairs, and how the threshold meets the floor. The new door is ordered to fit the opening and set in a pan with flashing.
My front door frame is soft at the bottom. Can it be fixed?
Yes. When the old door comes out we cut away the soft wood at the jamb feet, sill and subfloor and rebuild it. The new door goes in a sill pan so water that gets under the threshold drains out instead of rotting the new frame.
Does the City of Ramsey require a permit for a new front door?
It depends on whether the opening changes. We check with the City of Ramsey building department before the job and pull a permit when one is required.
Do you do entry doors in Anoka and Andover?
Yes. Anoka, Andover, Elk River and Dayton are next to Ramsey and in our service area, with the same crew and the same steps.
