Forty flat boxes on the garage floor and a kitchen with no cabinets. We build them, hang them level and plumb, fill and trim them, and leave the room ready for the countertop measure.
Klearvue cabinet installation, labor only: JMB Builders assembles and installs the Klearvue flat-pack cabinets you bought at Menards, or any other ready-to-assemble kitchen, across the Twin Cities metro. We are an independent installer, not a Menards program. We check the order against the layout, build the boxes square, hang the uppers level into studs, level the bases, add fillers, toe kicks, end panels and crown, and hang the doors. Countertops and plumbing are by others. Priced per project.

Klearvue is the Menards flat-pack, frameless cabinet line: you design it on their planner, it comes home as boxes of panels and hardware, and the store does not build or install it. Other online RTA kitchens work the same way. The savings are real, and so is the labor: every box has to be assembled square, every upper has to be hung on a level line into studs, and the bases have to be leveled over a floor that is not, or the countertop will never sit right.
Frameless cabinets are less forgiving than face-frame ones. There is no frame to hide a box that is out of square; the door gaps show it. The reveal between doors has to be even down the whole run, which means the boxes have to be clamped, shimmed and screwed to each other before they are screwed to the wall. Fillers get scribed to the walls, end panels cover the exposed sides, toe kicks clip on after the bases are leveled, and crown or a light rail finishes the top.
We do the cabinets. The countertop shop templates after the bases are set and installs the top; a licensed plumber reconnects the sink, disposal and dishwasher; an electrician handles any outlet or under-cabinet lighting wiring. We say that up front so the schedule is right. If you want us to line those trades up, ask when you send the layout.
What you supply
- The Klearvue or other RTA cabinets, all boxes, plus the fillers, end panels, toe kick, crown and light rail from the same order
- The planner layout or design printout so we can check the order against the room before assembly
- Hardware not in the boxes: pulls and knobs, and any drawer or door upgrades you ordered
- A countertop shop to template and install the top after the bases are set
- A licensed plumber for the sink, disposal and dishwasher, and an electrician if outlets or lighting move (we can refer)
- Paint color for wall patching, if any — painting is quoted as a separate line, or paint it yourself
What JMB supplies
- Order check: every box against the layout, before the first cabinet is built
- Assembly of every box square and clamped, with the hardware and drawer glides in the kit
- Layout lines on the wall, stud locations, and a level reference for the uppers and bases
- Structural screws into studs, shims, and a ledger to hold the uppers while they are hung
- Scribing of fillers and end panels to the walls, and cutting of toe kicks and crown to fit
- Door and drawer front hanging and adjustment for an even reveal down each run
- Blocking or a plywood strip in the wall where the studs do not fall behind a cabinet edge
- Removal and haul-away of the old cabinets when you want it
- Drywall patching behind the old cabinets where the wall is torn
- Photos of the finished kitchen in your job folder

Quoted in writing from your photos within one business day. What moves the number:
- Number of boxes and the size of the kitchen: a galley is a very different day than an L with an island
- Frameless flat-pack that we assemble vs. cabinets that arrive built
- Tall pantry cabinets, corner units and an island that has to be anchored to the floor
- Crown, light rail, end panels and fillers, which add cutting and scribing time
- Removal and haul-away of the old cabinets and patching the walls behind them
- Floor and wall condition: an out-of-level floor or a bowed wall means more shimming and scribing
- Painting patched walls, quoted as its own line
Send the Menards planner layout or design printout, photos of each kitchen wall, and a photo of the floor along the base run. We quote the whole install from that.
How long it takes
A small kitchen of fifteen to twenty boxes: two days to assemble and a day to hang. A large kitchen with an island, pantry and crown: a week. The countertop template happens after our last day.

Walkthrough and invoice
We walk the finished work with you. If anything is not right, we fix it before we call the job done. Then one invoice, paid by check or direct deposit — no card fees, no payment links.
Situations and options
Assembly and install
The full job: we build every box from the flat packs, hang the uppers, set the bases, fill, trim and hang the doors. Bring the boxes into the garage or an empty room and we work from there.
Install only, you assembled them
You built the boxes over a few weekends and need them hung. We check each box for square first, because a box that was glued out of square cannot be hung straight, then hang, level, fill and trim.
Fillers, crown, toe kicks and end panels
The parts most homeowners give up on. Fillers are scribed to a wall that is not straight, crown is coped at the inside corners, toe kicks are cut around the dishwasher and refrigerator, end panels are trimmed flush. We finish what a DIY install left.
Island and peninsula
An island is a row of base cabinets screwed to a cleat that is anchored to the subfloor, with finished panels on the back and ends. We set the cleat where the layout says, level the boxes to the rest of the kitchen, and leave the overhang ready for the countertop shop.

Do you install Klearvue cabinets from Menards?
Yes. You buy the Klearvue kitchen at Menards and JMB Builders assembles and installs it anywhere in the Twin Cities metro, labor only. We are an independent installer, not a Menards installation program. Send the planner layout and photos of the kitchen walls and we quote the whole install, then the countertop shop and a licensed plumber finish after us.
Do you assemble the flat-pack boxes or do I have to?
Either. Most customers have us assemble them, because a frameless box that is glued together out of square will never hang straight and the door gaps will show it. If you have already built them we check each one for square before hanging. Assembly is quoted separately from hanging so you can see what each part costs on the quote.
Do you install the countertop and hook up the sink?
No. Countertops come from a countertop shop that templates after the bases are set and installs the top a week or two later; a laminate top from the store can be set by us if it is a simple straight run, ask when you send the layout. The sink, disposal and dishwasher connections are a licensed plumber's work, and any new outlets or under-cabinet lighting wiring is an electrician's. We can refer both.
How do you hang frameless cabinets level on a wall that is not straight?
We strike a level line for the bottom of the uppers, screw a temporary ledger to the wall on it, and set the boxes on the ledger while they are clamped to each other and screwed together through the sides. Then they are screwed into the studs through the hanging rail with shims behind where the wall bows. The run ends up straight even when the wall is not, and the filler at the end wall takes up the difference.
What are fillers and why does my Klearvue order need them?
A filler is a finished strip that closes the gap between the last cabinet and the wall, or between two cabinets at a corner so the doors and drawers clear each other. Walls are never square, so a run of cabinets almost never lands exactly at the wall. The filler is scribed to the wall's shape so the joint is tight. If the order came without them, we tell you what to add before install day.
Can you take out the old cabinets too?
Yes. We take down the old uppers and bases, haul them away or set them in the garage if you want to sell them, patch the wall where the old screws and backsplash were, and leave the room ready for the new cabinets. The plumber disconnects the sink and dishwasher before we start, and an electrician handles any range or outlet that has to move.
