Mobile Home Hail Damage Windows Insurance Claim — Manufactured Homes
Hail cracked the windows on the manufactured home, and the adjuster's estimate prices them like house windows.

A mobile home hail damage windows insurance claim needs the same photos as any window claim plus the facts that make manufactured home windows different: the size, the mounting type and the wall thickness. JMB Builders photographs each damaged window with scale, records those details for the adjuster, and replaces the windows with units made for manufactured homes once approved. North metro and Twin Cities. Priced per window.
- Priced per window
- Size, mounting type and wall depth recorded
- Photos with scale for your claim

Manufactured home windows are built for manufactured homes. They come in their own sizes, they fit a thinner wall, and they are held in one of two ways: a clamp-style frame that squeezes the wall from inside and out, or a flange screwed to the outside and covered with trim. A site-built replacement window does not drop into that opening. That matters on a claim, because a scope written with a generic window line may not describe the window that has to be ordered.
So the documentation has two parts. The first is the damage, the same as any house: every damaged window numbered, a wide photo to show which one, a close-up of the crack, the dented frame or the torn screen with a coin or tape for scale. The second is what the window is: the measured size, the mounting type, the wall thickness, the glass type, and any label on the frame. With that, the adjuster's line can match the window that actually gets ordered.
Manufactured home windows are sold through mobile home supply stores and specialty sellers, and after a storm the sizes people need run short, so lead time can stretch. Ask your insurer about temporary cover if glass is out; we board or film broken openings in the meantime. On install day each old unit comes out, the wall at the bottom corners is checked for soft spots, and the new window is set in sealant and fastened the way its maker says. You file the claim and deal with your insurer; we document, meet the adjuster if you want us there, and do the work.

What JMB supplies

- A line-item list for your insurer that describes manufactured home windows, not site-built ones

- Soft wall at the opening repaired before the new window goes in
- Finished photos in your job folder
How it is priced: per window
Quoted in writing from your photos, with a reply within one business day. What moves the number:
- Number of windows and their sizes
- Clamp-style vs. flanged mounting
- Soft or rotted wall at the bottom of the opening
- Temporary cover needed while windows are on order
- Exterior trim or skirting disturbed to reach the flange
Send a photo of each damaged window from outside and inside, a photo of the frame edge showing how it is held in, and the data plate if you can find it.
How long it takes
Photos and measurements on the first visit. Lead time on manufactured home windows can run longer after a storm. Installing most homes' windows takes a day.

Situations and options
Clamp-style windows
Held by a frame that clamps the wall from inside and out. Recorded with the wall thickness so the replacement clamps tight. Swapped mostly from inside.
Flanged windows
Screwed through a flange to the outside wall and covered by trim. The trim comes off, the flange is cut loose, the new unit is set in sealant and the trim goes back or is replaced.
Glass only
Some manufactured home windows have a replaceable glass or sash insert. If the frame is undamaged and the insert is still sold, it is a smaller line. We check from the photos.
Doors on the same claim
Hail-dented manufactured home doors and storm doors go on the same claim with their own lines and sizes. The door page covers the common manufactured home door sizes.
Mobile Home Hail Damage Windows Insurance Claim — Manufactured Homes: questions, answered
Does insurance cover hail damage to mobile home windows?
Many manufactured home policies cover hail, subject to the deductible, but the policy is often separate from a standard homeowner policy and the terms differ; check your policy and ask your agent. Either way, photograph every damaged window with a coin for scale and record the size and type, so the claim describes what has to be replaced.
Why does the claim need my mobile home window sizes and mounting type?
Because manufactured home windows are made in their own sizes for thinner walls, held in by clamps or a flange. A generic window line on the scope may not match the unit that has to be ordered. Recording the size, mounting type and wall depth lets the adjuster's line fit the real window.
How long does it take to get replacement mobile home windows after a storm?
It depends on the size and the supplier, and after a widespread storm the common sizes run short. We order as soon as the claim is approved and board or film any broken glass in the meantime. Once the windows arrive, most homes are done in a day.
Can regular house windows go in a manufactured home on a claim?
Not without reframing the opening and the wall depth, which turns a window swap into a wall repair. The clean fix is a window made for manufactured homes. If you want something different, that is an upgrade paid directly, and the claim lines stay as the original windows.
Can you install manufactured home windows I already bought?
Yes, labor only. Send the order and photos of the old windows first and we check the size and mounting type before the old ones come out. We supply the sealant and fasteners and set them the way the maker says.
Do you do mobile home window claims in parks around Zimmerman and Elk River?
Yes. JMB Builders is based in Zimmerman and works on manufactured homes in parks and on private lots across Elk River, Big Lake, Isanti, Princeton and the rest of the north metro and Twin Cities. We follow park rules on hours and parking.
