A patio door with blinds between the glass has a set of mini-blinds sealed inside the insulated glass. A slide or knob on the frame raises, lowers or tilts them with a magnet through the glass. There are no cords, the slats never need dusting, and nothing hangs in the way of the door or the handle. It is a common choice for a slider off a kitchen or dining room, and for households with small kids or pets.
The trade-offs are real. The glass unit is thicker and heavier, the blinds cannot be swapped for a different color later, and if a blind stops working, the fix is usually a new glass panel from the maker rather than a quick repair. Some doors offer tilt-only blinds, others raise and tilt; not every size or style is made with them. We check what is available for your opening before quoting.
Install is a normal patio door replacement: old door and blinds out, the vertical blind track taken down and the holes patched, sill rot repaired, a sill pan set, the new door flashed, shimmed square and trimmed. Painting is quoted as a separate line — or leave it primed and caulked and paint it yourself.

How do blinds between the glass work?
The blinds are sealed inside the insulated glass unit. A slide or knob on the frame moves a magnet that raises, lowers or tilts them through the glass. There are no cords and the slats stay clean.
What happens if the blinds between the glass stop working?
Some operators can be reset or adjusted from outside the glass. If a blind inside has failed, the fix is usually a new glass panel from the door maker, which can take time to order. Check the maker's warranty on the blind before buying.
Can I add blinds between the glass to my existing patio door?
Generally no. The blinds are built into the sealed glass, so it means a new door or new glass panels from the maker. Some entry doors can take a new glass insert with blinds.
Are patio doors with built-in blinds good for pets and kids?
