Most window companies in the metro sell and install windows and stop at the interior. Full-frame replacements leave bare jambs and cut drywall. Pocket inserts leave a stop to trim and a stool to extend. The homeowner expected a finished window; the install crew is already on the next job. We fill that gap as a trim-out sub, and for several metro companies we run the install itself as well.
The scope is per opening and repeatable. Jamb extensions cut to the wall, casing in the profile the house has, stool and apron or a drywall return, caulked and filled and ready for paint. On a full-frame job we can do the install and the trim in the same visit so the homeowner sees one crew and one finished window.
What a window company needs from a sub is not just carpentry. It is showing up on the date, not selling anything to their customer, sending photos of every opening, and invoicing so their office can bill it clean. We run every job that way: one crew, one job folder with photos, one invoice per job.

- Number of openings on the job and jobs per month, which sets the rate
- Travel across the metro when a job is a single window
Send the window schedule and a photo of one existing window from the inside. That is enough for a per-opening rate on the job.
How long it takes
Trim-out after your crew: six to ten openings a day depending on stools and profile matching. Install plus trim on a full-frame job: about the same per day as your own crew, with the trim done in the same visit.

Trim-out after your install
Your crew sets the windows. We come in behind them, usually the next day, and do jamb extensions, casing, stools and aprons or returns on every opening. The homeowner sees a finished window the day after the install.
Install crew, labor only
We install your windows and doors as your sub: full-frame or insert, flashed and foamed to the manufacturer's instructions, exterior trim or wrap as specified. Your company name, our crew.
Install and trim in one visit
Full-frame replacements where the homeowner wants one crew and a finished interior when we leave. Windows set in the morning, trimmed out in the afternoon.
Warranty and punch work
Service calls you do not have a crew for: a sash out of adjustment, a stool that cupped, a return that cracked, a casing that opened up. We take the list, fix it and send photos.

Do you subcontract for window companies?
Yes. JMB Builders already installs windows and doors as a subcontractor for several window companies in the Twin Cities metro, and we do interior trim-out behind other companies' install crews. We work under your name on your customer's job, do not sell to your customer, and invoice you per opening with the address and your job number on it.
What does interior trim after a window install include?
On a full-frame replacement: jamb extensions cut flush to the wall, casing in the profile the house has or a standard profile, and either a stool and apron or a drywall return finished with a stool. On an insert: the interior stop reset, the stool extended if the new unit is shallower, and the casing tightened up. Everything is filled and caulked, ready for paint; painting is quoted as its own line when the homeowner wants us to do it. We photograph every opening.
How do you price trim-out for a window company?
Per opening, by type: full-frame with extensions and casing, full-frame with drywall returns, or insert with stop and stool work. The rate is set from the window schedule and one photo of an existing window, and it holds for the job. Companies that send steady work get a standing rate sheet so your sales team can quote trim on the spot.
Can you install the windows too, not just the trim?
Yes. Labor-only installation is most of what we do for window companies now: full-frame and insert windows, patio doors and entry doors, flashed and foamed to the manufacturer's instructions with the exterior trim or wrap your spec calls for. On full-frame jobs we can trim the interior in the same visit, which is the cleanest result for your customer.
Do you handle warranty and punch-list calls?
Yes. A sash that does not lock, a stool that lifted, a return that cracked after the first winter: send the address and what the homeowner said, and we schedule it, fix it and send photos. It keeps your own crew on installs and gets your customer a call back the same week.
How do you invoice a window company?
One invoice per job, priced per opening, with the job address and your job number on it, sent when the photos are in the folder. Paid by check or direct deposit, no payment links. If you run several jobs a week we can batch them on one invoice per week or per month, whichever your office prefers.
