The 2900 was Silver Line's builder-grade new-construction vinyl single-hung, certified as the Series 70 / Model 2900 and sold in volume to builders and through The Home Depot.

Silver Line no longer markets a 2900 Series by name. The window lives on in the V1 Series: the V1 single-hung with nailing flange and J-channel is drawn under the 2900 (and related 2800 and 4900) model numbers in Silver Line's technical documents. If you are ordering today, you order a V1 single-hung with nailing flange.

Highlights

  • Renamed: sold today as the V1 Series single-hung

  • Nailing flange with J-channel option
  • Model 2900 still appears in V1 technical drawings

Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota

The 2900 was a builder window, often installed with clear or basic Low-E glass; in a Minnesota house it is one of the first windows worth replacing. A V1 or V3 window with Low-E argon in the Northern ENERGY STAR package, installed with a proper sill pan and foam seal, is a clear step up.

Glass packages

  • Older units: clear or Low-E double-pane as sold; check the label
  • Current V1 single-hung: Low-E with optional argon, ENERGY STAR certified options

Frame and sash

Multi-chamber vinyl frame and sash with nailing flange for new construction; no foam fill.

Ratings

Older units: historical NFRC values are on the label. Current V1 units: ENERGY STAR certified options; check the NFRC label on the ordered unit.

What the install adds

On install day we set the unit on a sill pan, tape the nailing fin or frame to the housewrap, fill the rough-opening gap with low-expansion foam, and finish the interior with backer rod and sealant so the air seal is continuous. Outside, a sealant joint at the trim or siding keeps water out of the wall.
