The 200 Series is Andersen's entry into wood windows. It pairs a natural pine interior with a Perma-Shield® vinyl-protected exterior that never needs painting and resists peeling, blistering, flaking and corrosion. Andersen keeps the price down by limiting the line to its most popular styles and sizes and a short list of colors.
It fits homeowners who want a stained or painted wood interior without exterior upkeep and who do not need the color palette, wood species or configurations of the 400 Series. Windows are the tilt-wash double-hung, gliding and picture units; patio doors are the all-vinyl Perma-Shield® gliding door, the wood Narroline® gliding door (two- or four-panel) and a fiberglass hinged inswing door.
Glass options are the same family as the 400 Series: Low-E4®, Low-E4 SmartSun™, and HeatLock® coating, plus clear dual-pane.

Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota
Wood is a natural insulator, and the 200 Series wraps it in vinyl rather than metal, so the frame itself does not bleed heat. For Minnesota, order Low-E4 or Low-E4 SmartSun with the HeatLock coating; the 200 Series is dual-pane only, so the coatings are where the cold-weather gains come from.
Glass packages
- Low-E4® dual-pane insulating glass with argon (standard)
- Low-E4® SmartSun™: stronger solar and UV control for sunny exposures
- HeatLock® room-side coating: reflects heat back into the room and lowers U-factor
- Clear dual-pane glass available where a code or historic requirement calls for it
Frame and sash
Windows and the Narroline door are solid wood clad outside in Perma-Shield® rigid vinyl; the Perma-Shield gliding door is fully vinyl-clad and the hinged inswing door uses fiberglass panels. Double-hung sash are weatherstripped at the jambs and meeting rail; the gliding patio doors ride on adjustable ball-bearing rollers with weatherstripped interlocks.
Ratings
ENERGY STAR® certified options are available with the right glass package; Andersen publishes U-factor by unit and glass on the NFRC label and in the 200 Series product guide. Ask for Low-E4 with HeatLock to reach Northern-zone numbers.
What the install adds
On install day we set the unit on a sloped sill pan, tape the flanges or brickmould to the housewrap with flashing tape, fill the rough-opening gap with low-expansion foam, and seal the interior with backer rod and sealant before trim goes on. The exterior joint gets backer rod and sealant too, so the rating on the label is what the wall actually gets.
