Gutters are hung on the fascia, and the fascia is the board that has been rotting quietly behind the old gutter for years. That is why we look before we hang. A gutter screwed into soft wood pulls loose under the first ice load, and a new gutter over a rotted fascia just hides the problem for another season. On most houses the fascia is fine; on the ones where it is not, we replace the bad sections and then hang the gutter into solid wood.
The gutter itself is seamless aluminum, formed to length on site so the only seams are at the corners and the outlets. We use hidden screw hangers on a tight spacing, not spikes, and set the pitch so water reaches the downspout without a puddle sitting at the far end. Downspouts go where the water has a place to go: onto a splash block, into an extension away from the foundation, or into an existing drain tile, not onto the walk or into the window well.
Gutters are a natural add-on to a new roof, new fascia and soffit, or a siding job, and we can do them as their own job when the old ones are sagging, leaking at the seams or simply gone.

Situations and options
Seamless aluminum gutters
The standard residential gutter: continuous aluminum formed on site in your color, hung on hidden hangers. Seams only at corners and outlets, sealed with gutter sealant, not caulk.
Oversized gutters and downspouts
A larger gutter profile and wider downspouts for steep roofs, big roof areas or a valley that dumps onto one section. Moves water faster and clogs less than a standard downspout.
Gutters after a new roof or new fascia
The right time to do gutters is after the roof, fascia and drip edge are done. If we are doing the roof or the soffit and fascia, the gutters go on last in the same job.
Downspout relocation and extensions
Moving a downspout off a walkway or away from a foundation corner that stays wet, with underground or surface extensions so the water ends up in the yard, not the basement.

Are your seamless gutters made on site?
Yes. Seamless gutters are formed from a coil of aluminum on site, so each run is one continuous piece from corner to corner. We run them with our gutter partner's seamless machine at the house; JMB does the fascia work, the hanging and the downspouts. The only seams on the house are at the mitered corners and the outlets.
Should I replace my gutters when I replace my roof?
If the gutters are sagging, leaking at the seams, spiked instead of screwed or pulling off the fascia, yes, and the order is roof first, then fascia, then gutters. A new roof with new drip edge and a gutter that hangs straight under it is a complete edge. If the gutters are sound, we protect them during the roof and leave them.
Why are my gutters pulling away from the house?
Usually the fascia behind them has softened or the gutters were hung with spikes that have worked loose in the wood. Ice load every winter finishes the job. The fix is to replace the rotted fascia sections, then rehang the gutter on hidden screw hangers into solid wood on a tight spacing. If the gutter itself is bent or the seams have split, a new seamless run is often cheaper than repairing the old one.
Do new gutters prevent ice dams?
No. Ice dams form on the roof when attic heat melts snow that refreezes at the cold eave; the gutter just fills with the ice. A gutter that holds ice can be bent or pulled off, so on a house with ice dam history we hang the gutter with more hangers and talk about attic air sealing and insulation, which is what stops the dam.
Where should my downspouts drain?
Away from the foundation, onto ground that slopes off, not onto a walk, a driveway edge or a window well. A splash block or an extension a few feet out works on most lots. If you have a wet basement corner, we put a downspout somewhere else or extend it further and can tie into an existing drain tile if one is there. We lay this out on the quote from your photos.
What size gutter do I need?
Most houses do well with the standard residential gutter and downspout. A steep roof, a large roof area draining to one run, or a valley that dumps onto a short section can overflow a standard gutter in a hard rain; there we use the larger profile and wider downspouts on that section. We size it from the roof, not by habit.
