Andersen's Narroline double hungs went into a lot of Minnesota houses. The frames usually hold up; the sashes and the old jamb liners wear out, the glass fogs, and the sashes do not tilt in for cleaning. Andersen sells conversion kits for these windows: new jamb liners and new tilt-wash sashes that go into the existing frame. The frame, interior trim and exterior stay as they are.
You order the kit or the sashes from Andersen or a dealer by the window's size. We install them. The old sashes and stops come out, the old liners are removed, the new liners go in and are fastened as the kit instructions show, the sashes go in and are adjusted to tilt, lock and seal, and the stops go back. We check each frame before we start, because a rotted sill or a frame out of square will not take a kit well.

Send the Andersen order and a photo of each window from inside. A tape across the sash width helps us check the order.
How long it takes
Most Narroline kits install in about an hour or two per window. A house full of them is usually one to two days.

Who installs Andersen Narroline sash conversion kits?
We do, labor only, across the Twin Cities. You order the kits from Andersen or a dealer; we install the liners and sashes in your existing frames and reset the stops and trim.
What is in a Narroline conversion kit?
New jamb liners and new tilt-wash sashes that go into the existing Narroline frame. That lets the sashes tilt in for cleaning. The frame and trim stay. Check the kit contents with your dealer when you order.
Can you replace just one Andersen window sash?
Yes. Andersen sells replacement sashes for many of its windows, ordered from the label or the frame size. We install the single sash and adjust it. If the frame is rotted, we tell you first.
Is a Narroline kit better than a new replacement window?
When the frames are sound, a kit keeps the original frame and trim and costs less work. When the sills are rotted or the frames leak around the outside, an insert or full-frame window is the better fix.
Are you an Andersen dealer?
No. We are an independent installer. You buy the kit or sashes from Andersen or a dealer; we install them to the instructions in the box. We check your order against your windows before you place it.
Do you paint the stops and trim after a sash kit install?
Painting is quoted as a separate line, or leave it and paint it yourself. Stops that break coming off are replaced to match.
