Pulse is Therma-Tru's modern collection, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and Bauhaus design. It is organized around design families: Ari with three-quarter lites, Linea with a single sidelite-sized lite and Echo with a grid of small 8 by 6 inch lites; the original 2013 launch also included Solei, which current dealer guides no longer list. The clean lines and offset glass suit mid-century, contemporary and transitional homes.
Pulse designs are available in smooth fiberglass, oak-grained fiberglass and steel, in 6 foot 8 inch and 8 foot heights, with a range of privacy glass options. Doors and sidelites arrive ready to stain or paint, and the fiberglass versions use the same polyurethane foam core and complete door system as the rest of the lineup. Lumberyards order the full range.
In Minnesota, order the fiberglass version with Low-E privacy glass; the smaller lites in Echo and Linea keep glass area down, which helps on an exposed north or west entry.
Highlights
- Ari, Linea and Echo design families

Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota
A Pulse door insulates like the line it is built on: fiberglass versions carry the polyurethane foam core, steel versions an insulated core, and both are sold as a complete weatherstripped system. For the cold, pick fiberglass, choose Low-E privacy glass, and favor the smaller-lite Echo or Linea designs on an exposed entry.
Glass packages
- Privacy glass options across the Pulse designs, triple-pane in Therma-Tru's privacy and textured glass
- Factory-coated Low-E glass available
- Advanta Lite Frame clear and privacy triple-pane Low-E options meet ENERGY STAR in all 50 states
Frame and sash
Fiberglass versions use smooth or oak-grain skins over a polyurethane foam core; steel versions use an insulated core. All are sold as a complete door system with matched frame, sill and compression weatherstripping.
Ratings
Therma-Tru states that more than 80 percent of its door and glass combinations are ENERGY STAR qualified and NFRC certified; the Northern-zone rating for a Pulse door depends on the skin and lite package chosen.
What the install adds
On install day we set the frame on a sill pan, tape the frame to the housewrap, fill the rough-opening gap with low-expansion foam, and finish the interior with backer rod and sealant so the air barrier is continuous. Exterior joints get backer rod and a quality sealant, and we adjust the sill and strike so the weatherstrip compresses evenly all the way around.
