The Heritage Series is Masonite's craftsman-inspired fiberglass collection: shaker-style recessed panels rather than raised mouldings, in a smooth paintable texture or a fir texture, modeled on real fir, that stains to emulate the wood of a Craftsman home. Glazed designs take craftsman lites with named patterns (Frontier, Marco, Royston, Naples, and others) in antique black caming, an optional dentil shelf, and 6-foot-8 or 8-foot heights.
It is built like the rest of the fiberglass line, with a polyurethane core that Masonite says insulates about five times better than a wood door, and it will not rot, rust, warp, or dent easily. Masonite covers the slab with a limited lifetime warranty for as long as the original owner occupies the home.
Heritage is often the best fit for the 1910s to 1930s bungalows and modern farmhouse builds around the Twin Cities, and it is widely stocked at The Home Depot and Lowe's.

Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota
Heritage's polyurethane-core slab is an efficient door; the typical craftsman top-lite is small, which helps in Minnesota. Order the lite in Low-E argon, choose a solid or quarter-lite design on north-facing entries, and install the complete Performance Door System.
Glass packages
- Craftsman decorative glass patterns with antique black caming

Ratings
Masonite lists ENERGY STAR certified exterior doors; certification depends on glass size and package, so ask for a certified Heritage configuration. Per-design U-factors are not published on the collection page.
What the install adds
On install day we set the unit on a sill pan, tape the frame to the housewrap, fill the jamb and head gaps with low-expansion foam, and seal the interior with backer rod and sealant so the air seal is continuous. Outside, a sealant joint at the brickmould keeps water out of the wall, and we shim and adjust the sill so the weatherstrip compresses evenly all the way around.
