Request Reinspection on Hail Claim — Windows the Adjuster Missed
The estimate lists nine windows. You count twenty-three with damage, and the adjuster never went around the back or upstairs.

To request reinspection on a hail claim, write to your adjuster with the claim number, say which windows were missed or misread, attach numbered photos with scale, and ask for a date when your contractor can be there. JMB Builders prepares that packet opening by opening and walks the house with the second adjuster when you want us there. You file and talk to your insurer; we document. Twin Cities metro.
- Ask in writing, with the claim number
- Name each missed window by number, with photos
- Ask for a date your contractor can attend

A re-inspection is the insurer sending an adjuster back out, the same one or a different one, to look again. On a big window claim it is usually the fastest fix when the first visit was short: the adjuster stayed on the storm side, did not go upstairs, did not pull screens, or called a split sash glass only. It happens before the claim is settled, or while the estimate is still being argued, which is what separates it from a supplement added to an approved scope.
Ask for it in writing, by email if your insurer allows it, so there is a date on it. Give the claim number. Say plainly what you want looked at: which openings were missed, which were written as the wrong repair, which screens were left off. Attach numbered photos with a scale reference so each one can be found on the house. Ask for a time when your contractor can be there, and ask whether it will be the same adjuster.
We put the packet together from our opening log: a sketch with every window numbered, the photos for each, and a short list of what the first estimate shows against what is on the house. On the day, we walk every listed opening with the adjuster, open the sashes, test the locks and point at the corners. You keep talking to your insurer; we explain the damage and then do the repair.

Request Reinspection on Hail Claim — Windows the Adjuster Missed: questions, answered
How do I ask insurance to reinspect hail damage?
Write to your adjuster with the claim number and say what you want looked at again: the windows that were missed or written as the wrong repair, by number, with photos attached. Ask for a date and whether your contractor can be there. Keep a copy with the date you sent it.
Can I get a second adjuster to inspect my windows?
You can ask, and some insurers send a different adjuster or a supervisor on a re-inspection. Ask in writing and say why: openings not inspected, upper floor not reached, damage misread. Whether they send the same person or someone new is up to the insurer.
Should my contractor be there for the reinspection?
It helps. A contractor with a numbered log can walk the adjuster straight to each disputed opening, open the sash and show the damage instead of describing it. We attend when you want us there. You stay the one who talks to your insurer about the claim.
What if the adjuster missed windows on the back of the house?
That is the most common reason to ask for a re-inspection. Number every window on that side, photograph each one wide and close with scale, and send the photos with the request. Hail and wind do not stop at the front wall, and an adjuster who sees the photos usually walks the back the second time.
What is the difference between a reinspection and a supplement?
A re-inspection is a second look at the house, usually while the estimate is still open or in dispute. A supplement adds items to a scope that is already approved, like a seal that failed later or trim that had to come off. On a large claim you may use both.
What if the reinspection does not change the estimate?
Ask for the reason in writing. Then talk to your agent about your options, which may include the appraisal clause in your policy or a licensed public adjuster. We keep the documentation and can do the repair through the claim or paid directly.
