MIRA is Ply Gem's premium series: solid wood interiors that can be stained or painted, protected outside by aluminum cladding. Ply Gem offers 46 exterior colors (three standard colors, white, dark bronze, and black, plus 43 signature and radiance colors), and the wood frame and sash parts are treated to resist water damage and fungus. Interiors come as natural wood (stain-ready), primed (paint-ready), or prefinished white, off-white, or black.
Architecturally inspired grille profiles and patterns and matching MIRA patio doors (including French and hinged styles) let the series carry a design through the whole house.
Glass is Low-E with argon in packages that can meet ENERGY STAR requirements in every climate zone. Ply Gem backs MIRA with a Limited Warranty; we go over the current term at the estimate.

Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota
Wood is a poor conductor, so a MIRA frame insulates well on its own; the glass package then decides the whole-unit number. Order Low-E with argon in the Northern ENERGY STAR package, ask whether a triple-pane package is offered for your configuration, and keep the interior wood finished so it stays dimensionally stable through Minnesota humidity swings.
Glass packages
- Low-E insulating glass with argon gas fill
- Packages that meet ENERGY STAR thermal requirements in all climate zones, including Northern
- Triple-pane availability not confirmed on current MIRA materials; ask at the estimate
Frame and sash
Solid wood frame and sash (treated against water damage and fungus) with aluminum exterior cladding; wood's low conductivity gives the frame a thermal advantage over hollow vinyl. Ply Gem does not publish an air-leakage figure on the MIRA product page.
Ratings
ENERGY STAR certified configurations by region with the right glass package. U-factor ranges are not published on the product page; check the NFRC label on the ordered configuration.
What the install adds
On install day we set the unit on a sill pan, tape the nailing fin or frame to the housewrap, fill the rough-opening gap with low-expansion foam, and finish the interior with backer rod and sealant so the air seal is continuous. Outside, a sealant joint at the trim or siding keeps water out of the wall.
