Brickmould 600 has a richly detailed multi-tiered brickmould frame that gives vinyl the proportions of a wood window, with optional woodgrain interiors, simulated divided lites and flat casing trim; Brickmould 300 is the step-down version in single-hung, slider, picture and geometric styles, in White or Driftwood, with a Lap-Lok interlocking meeting rail.
Both are built for new construction with an integral nailing fin, and Simonton notes that Brickmould 600 can also be installed in an existing opening during a renovation without disturbing the siding. Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota
Brickmould 600 and 300 use fusion-welded vinyl frames with Simonton's ProSolar Low-E argon glass and the same regional glass packages as the replacement lines. For a Minnesota new build, order the Northern-zone ENERGY STAR package and have the fin flashed to the housewrap so the frame's insulation is not lost to air leaks.

What the install adds
On install day we set the unit on a sill pan, tape the nailing fin or frame to the housewrap, fill the rough-opening gap with low-expansion foam, and finish the interior with backer rod and sealant so the air barrier is continuous. Exterior joints get backer rod and a quality sealant, so the rating on the label is what you feel in the room.
