The V3000 Series sliding glass door is MI's most popular patio door, sold as model 1615 (set-up), 1617 (knock-down) and 1618 (multi-slide). MI lists a warm-edge spacer system, a saddle sill with heavy-duty dual rollers, an interlock at the meeting rail to reduce air infiltration, and insulated double-strength tempered glass.
It comes in fin and finless frames for new construction or replacement, with White, Almond or Clay interiors and exteriors including White, Almond, Clay, Black, Bronze, Cocoa, Cream, Forest Green and Silver, flat or sculptured grids, blinds-between-the-glass (dual-pane only), and hardware in brushed chrome, brass and black nickel. Dual- or triple-pane Low-E argon glass is offered, and the 1618 multi-slide reaches 17 feet wide. A common stock size is 72 by 80 inches with Low-E argon glass.
Recall note: in November 2023 MI recalled about 1,900 1615 and 1617 doors sold as impact-resistant or with the DP50 upgrade, made before March 7, 2023 and sold mainly in the eastern and southern coastal U.S., because the glass can separate in hurricane conditions (aluminum interlock, LC-PG50 on the label). Standard 1615/1617 doors were not part of it. For Minnesota order Low-E argon or triple-pane glass and let us set the sill on a pan.

Insulation and energy performance in Minnesota
A sliding door is mostly glass, so the V3000 door's insulation comes from its double-strength tempered Low-E argon glass on a warm-edge spacer, backed by an interlocking meeting rail that cuts air leakage. For Minnesota, order Low-E argon glass, skip blinds-between-the-glass if you want the best U-factor, and have the sill set level on a pan.

What the install adds
On install day we set the unit on a sill pan, tape the nailing fin or frame to the housewrap, fill the rough-opening gap with low-expansion foam, and finish the interior with backer rod and sealant so the air barrier is continuous. Exterior joints get backer rod and a quality sealant, so the rating on the label is what you feel in the room.
